Strathardle is a beautiful river valley nestling at the foot of the Cairngorms. The entry to the valley is at Bridge of Cally
The lower part of the strath is a mix of farm and woodland with the hills above, higher up we enter open rolling moorland.
The communities of Ballintuim, Kirkmichael, Enochdhu and Straloch are starting points for exploring a range of outdoor leisure choices. Anglers enjoy fishing the River Ardle, walkers can pick up the Cateran Trail which also takes in wild country leading through to Glenshee, and the Cateran ‘Mini Trail’ which starts from Kirkmichael. There are many great birdwatching and wildlife opportunities. This is the sort of place you see hen harriers, amongst other raptors, without even getting out of the car!
And of course with easy access to other routes to the east and west, it makes a great base for tourers and golfers – especially as there are 90 courses within a 90 minute drive!
