The Victorian resort town of Pitlochry is a short drive north-west of Cateran Country.
Pitlochry is a bustling little Highland town famous for its Dam and Fish Ladder and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, "Scotland's Theatre in the Hills". There are two whisky distilleries with visitor centres and ‘Explorers’, the new Scottish Plant Hunters Garden. This tells the story of Scots who travelled the world to discover new species of plants.
To the north, the picturesque village of Blair Atholl nestles under impressive Blair Castle, the magnificent seat of the Dukes of Atholl and home to a treasury of works of art, as well as Europe's last private army, the Atholl Highlanders.
Just north of Blair Atholl is the House of Bruar, one of Scotland's most prestigious country stores.
To return to Cateran Country go through Pitlochry and along to the historic village of Moulin. Then over the heather clad Moulin Moor into Strathardle, join the A93 at Bridge of Cally and then just a short drive down the A93 back to Blairgowrie.
