Scottish food and drink is amongst the best in the world and Blairgowrie, renowned as the ‘Berry Toon’, and the surrounding area with its rich soil and fertile agricultural land is at the heart of that.

As well as sampling some of the fantastic local produce we have on offer here, you can also go ‘behind the scenes’ during your stay in cateran country.

There are a number of craft distillers in the area, including Persie Gin, Highland Boundary and the Gin Bothy, which offer tours and tastings, and at Highland Boundary on the outskirts of Alyth you can even try your hand at foraging for the ingredients for their award-winning botanical spirit.

Cairn o’ Mohr produces award-winning fruit wines, using the berries this area is famous for as well as wild flowers, fruits and leaves. Their tours offer a 90-minute experience that follows the production process from berry to bottle and finishes up with a tutored tasting in their sampling room.

Just up the road in Dunkeld is artisan bakery ARAN, owned and run by Great British Bake-Off finalist Flora Shedden, and, in Blairgowrie itself, you can even try your hand at making chocolate with award-winning chocolatier Taystful.

There are several community gardens and even a community farm at Spittalfield on the outskirts of Blairgowrie, and many of the local berry farms offer a ‘pick your own’ experience, giving you a chance to source your soft fruit straight from the field.
