The largest town in Perthshire, Blairgowrie is well-known for its plethora of independent retailers and small, boutique shops.

We have award-winning florists, a silversmith and a jewellers, championship pie-making butchers, kilt-makers, bookshops, gift and card shops, cookshops, craft shops, hardware shops, clothes shops, delicatessens and newsagents.

There are also specialist outdoor sports shops for fishing and shooting equipment, as well as ski and snowboard hire and sales, and several High Street chains.

Adventure into Books is Blairgowrie’s newest independent bookstore and offers new books for all, with an emphasis on Scottish authors, children’s books, maps and local interest. Owners Kate and Ralph love reading and love sharing their enthusiasm for books with others. The shop hosts regular reading sessions and meet the author events throughout the year. Pop in and find out more about new books that have caught their eye or hear their recommendations of some of their long-standing favourites. There’s even a wee reading nook for visitors to enjoy while choosing what to read next!

Nest is a creative community hub providing local makers with a dedicated space to collaborate, share ideas and sell their products. The gift shop area sells a wide range of items made by over 40 talented local makers, while the arts and crafts remnants shop has a wealth of supplies for the keenest crafter – fabric, wool, paper, cardboard, frames, buttons, threads, trimmings and much more, all at a fraction of the cost of buying from new, and with the added benefit of knowing you are doing your bit for the environment by recycling craft items. You can even make yourself a coffee and sit for a while to browse and get some creative inspiration.

  1. Piob Mhor of Scotland

Located on Blairgowrie High Street, Piob Mhor of Scotland has been an established Highland outfitters and Highland dance clothing manufacturers for over 40 years, with its garments worn with pride all over the world. This treasure trove of a shop offers a wide selection of traditional kilts, jackets, sporrans, sgian dubhs, dancers outfits, tartans, tweeds, and velvets. It also has a fantastic range of jewellery, Scottish gifts, ladies and gents accessories, art, home furnishings and Scottish spirits. And if you need to hire an outfit for a special occasion it has an extensive range. The team at Piob Mhor is also the designers of the official Dundee United Football Club tartan and stock a range of licensed club items.

Sarah designs and makes a range of silverware as well as stunning jewellery. Most of her silverware is ‘hand raised’ – a traditional technique of producing form using basic hand tools. She works the flat sheet of silver over steel tools or ‘stakes’ using a raising hammer to produce a form, each one being unique. You can pop into the shop, which is also Sarah’s workshop, on Blairgowrie High Street and see Sarah at work while you browse the beautiful jewellery she creates – the perfect gift or holiday memento.

Victor and Sons is a traditional watchmaker and jeweller, located on Allan Street in Blairgowrie. Another hidden treasure in the heart of the town, this family-run business has a huge range of gorgeous jewellery with lots of lovely pieces and watches, offering something for all the family. It also provides a repair and alteration service.
