This part of the world is renowned for its golfing heritage and fantastic parkland and heath courses, and is within easy reach of the coast and its many links courses to further test your golf skills.

Famous courses nearby include those at Gleneagles, home of the PGA Centenary Course which hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup, and well-known Open Championship venues Carnoustie and St Andrews.

There is also a huge range of golfing choices in east Perthshire itself. At the Rosemount course in Blairgowrie, for instance, you can enjoy the individuality of the design of the holes cut through the woodlands. Blairgowrie Golf Club hosted the Junior Ryder Cup in 2014 and is also home to the Lansdowne course and The Wee Course. Whether you are a leading pro or an enthusiastic beginner, the Blairgowrie golf courses offer a challenge for any golfer and all set within stunning scenery.

Then there is the novelty of playing in one of Britain’s very highest courses, set amid spectacular mountain scenery at Dalmunzie by Glenshee, a wonderfully well looked after and panoramic nine-hole course.

An 18-hole (6,259 yds) heathland layout, Alyth Golf Club was established in 1894 by Old Tom Morris himself. It was extended and remodelled by the late, great James Braid, and is a delightful yet challenging course.

Also on the outskirts of Alyth, the Strathmore Golf Centre comprises the magnificent 18-hole Rannaleroch Course, the nine-hole Leftie Links Course, a floodlit driving range, a short game area and a practice putting green, as well as a friendly, well-appointed Clubhouse.

Wherever you go, you’re sure of a friendly welcome. And remember when staying in Blairgowrie or any of the other towns and villages to check out discount tickets and promotions for golfers such as the Perthshire Green Card, which offers discounts on 19 courses as well as other local attractions.
