Strathardle is a beautiful river glen nestling at the foot of the Cairngorms.

The entry to the glen, or strath, is at Bridge of Cally, an area which is a mix of farm and woodland. As you follow the road up through the glen, with the hills above, you soon arrive at open rolling moorland.

The communities of Ballintuim, Kirkmichael, Enochdhu and Straloch are starting points for exploring a range of outdoor leisure choices in Strathardle. Anglers enjoy fishing the River Ardle, walkers can pick up the Cateran Trail which also takes in wild country leading through to Glenshee, and the Cateran ‘Mini Trail’ which starts from Kirkmichael. There are many great birdwatching and wildlife opportunities; some organised and some you will see without even getting out of your car!

And of course with easy access to other routes to the east and west, it makes a great base for tourers and golfers – especially as there are some 90 courses within a 90 minute drive!

Kirkmichael is also home to the traditional Strathardle Highland Gathering and Agricultural Show, usually held in August and one of the highlights in the local community calendar.

You can stay or dine in the Strathardle Inn or Kirkmichael Hotel and there is also a number of self-catering accommodation options available in the area.
