The clocks have changed, the days are getting longer and spring is definitely in the air.
And for music lovers everywhere that can only mean one thing – the countdown to summer festival season is on!
There’s always a lot going on in and around east Perthshire, and as most people know, we love a good celebration here in Scotland.
And that feeling of seeing your favourite band live, surrounded by your friends and like-minded fans, is unbeatable.
This summer, music fans in this part of Scotland are in for a treat – well, several treats in fact – with a fantastic line-up of events and festivals lined-up over the coming months.
Kicking things off with a high-energy tribute to one of Kirriemuir’s most famous sons is Bonfest,
a celebration of all things AC/DC from Friday, April 29th to Sunday, May 1st.
Also in May this year is March into Pitlochry, a three-day boutique festival in the Highland Perthshire town just half an hour away from Blairgowrie. Expect an eclectic mix of contemporary original music.
June sees the summer sessions hit Dundee’s Slessor Gardens with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the Stereophonics headlining on June 11th and June 12th respectively.

The midsummer weekend also sees the Solas festival, a celebration of arts and ideas held at Errol Park, and the Killin Music Festival – winner of the Media Innovator Best Scottish Annual Music Festival award in 2020 – take place.
Family and dog-friendly, Doune the Rabbit Hole has been a firm favourite with festival-goers for several years and is back for four days of escapism from July 14th to 17th. Amy McDonald, Teenage Fanclub, Belle and Sebastian 70s disco stars Boney M head up the line-up.
Slessor Gardens in Dundee will also welcome pop superstars Simply Red on Saturday, July 23rd, while in Perth the popular celebration of the music and fashion of the 1980s, Rewind, returns to the stunning surroundings of Scone Palace from July 22nd to July 24th with a packed programme featuring many of your 80s musical heroes.
Bringing the summer to a close is the Otherlands music and arts festival at Scone Palace over the weekend of August 19th and 20th.
And if it is just gigs you are after then look no further! Everyone from trad trailblazers Blazin’ Fiddles, Peat and Diesel and Elephant Sessions to Twin Atlantic, Paul Weller, Marti Pellow and Leo Sayer are all performing in Perth or Dundee over the coming months.
