The Cateran Yomp is the biggest, toughest charity event of its kind. This year, more than one thousand Yompers will gather on the edge of Blairgowrie in the heart of Scotland to traverse through the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains, walking continuously for 54, 36 or 22 miles over 24 hours and raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Army Benevolent Fund.
Festive Breaks
Christmas is a magical time of year and Blairgowrie and East Perthshire is the perfect place for a cosy winter break with snow-capped mountains, frosty walks, skiing and some fabulous places to stay and to eat.
Members Spotlight: The Cateran Ecomuseum
The Cateran Ecomuseum is set across 1,000 square kilometres of the beautiful landscapes of eastern Perthshire and western Angus. The concept of ecomuseums is relatively new to Scotland – the Cateran Ecomuseum is only the country’s second such venture – and encompasses the idea of a museum linked to a territory rather than a traditional building or place, with community at its heart – a museum without walls.
Members Spotlight: Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games
Highland Games have been a part of Scotland’s culture for hundreds of years and are just as popular today as they have ever been.
Showcasing the traditional skills and talents of the heavyweights, Highland dancers and pipers, they are a great way to experience the sense of community and heritage of a place.
Members Spotlight: Strathardle Lodge
Cake school is the icing on top of a stay at the historic Strathardle Lodge. Strathardle Lodge sits on the eastern edge of the picturesque village of Kirkmichael in Cateran Country.
