Christmas is a magical time of year and Blairgowrie and East Perthshire is the perfect place for a cosy winter break with snow-capped mountains, frosty walks, skiing and some fabulous places to stay and to eat.
Just half an hour from both Perth and Dundee and a couple of hours away by car from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness, Blairgowrie and East Perthshire is the ideal location for holidays, short breaks and days out.
There is so much to do and see here at any time of year, and Christmas and Hogmanay are no exception, with something for everyone – even if you just want to relax and coorie doon as we say here.
For those who want to get out and about and experience the stunning landscapes and wonderful scenery we have here, look no further than the Cateran Ecomuseum which has a number of cycling and walking itineraries to explore. Or perhaps you fancy seeing the world from a different viewpoint and kayaking with Blairgowrie-based Outdoor Explore is more your thing?

Blairgowrie is also the start of the Snow Roads scenic route – a 90-mile journey which follows the highest public road in Britain through dramatic landscapes first forged in the last Ice Age some 10,000 years ago.
There are spa days and festive nights at The Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie and lots of wonderful independent shops to explore – including Adventure into Books where you will find the perfect book to read curled up by a cosy log fire.
If you fancy getting creative, there is a range of festive workshops lined up at Nest Creative Spaces in Blairgowrie.
Over the festive period itself there are late night shopping events in Blairgowrie, Hogmanay ceilidhs, and the always popular Blairgowrie New Year’s Day Fun Run and Walk. This is a great community event that is open to everyone and is a fantastic way to get rid of some of the festive excesses from the night before.
If all that has worked up an appetite, you’ll be spoilt for choice with some fantastic eateries in the area. Try the
restaurants at The Angus Hotel and the Kinloch House Hotel. The Glenisla Hotel and the Ardler Tavern are also close by and highly recommended.
We also have a fantastic array of places to stay, from a romantic off-grid shepherd’s hut in Glenisla to the award-winning holiday lodges at Blairgowrie Holiday Park and Ericht Holiday Lodges, from gorgeous townhouses such as Invermay in Blairgowrie to cosy cottages at East Mill in Glenisla and welcoming B&Bs such as Glenkilrie, there is accommodation to suit whatever you need.
